**Prefix® Herbicide**

Prefix® Herbicide, developed by Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC (EPA Registration Number: 100-1268), is a selective herbicide designed to control or partially control certain grass, broadleaf, and sedge weeds in soybeans and cotton. It offers flexibility in application timing, allowing for preplant surface, preplant incorporated, preemergence, or postemergence treatments in soybeans, and post-directed treatments in cotton.

**Key Features:**

- **Dual Modes of Action:** Combines S-metolachlor and fomesafen sodium to target weeds through inhibition of cell division and protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), respectively, enhancing efficacy and aiding in resistance management.

- **Extended Residual Control:** Provides up to five weeks of residual activity against key grass and broadleaf weeds, reducing early-season competition and promoting optimal crop growth.

- **Application Flexibility:** Suitable for various application timings, including preplant, preemergence, and early postemergence in soybeans, and post-directed applications in cotton, accommodating diverse weed management strategies.

- **Broad-Spectrum Weed Control:** Effectively manages a wide range of weeds, including barnyardgrass, crabgrass, common ragweed, and pigweed species, among others.

**Active Ingredients:**

- **S-metolachlor:** 46.4%

- **Fomesafen sodium:** 10.2%

**Usage Recommendations:**

- **Crops:** Approved for use in soybeans and cotton.

- **Application Rates:**
- *Soybeans:* Apply 2 pints per acre.
- *Cotton:* Apply 2 to 2.33 pints per acre, with applications made at least 80 days before harvest.

- **Application Methods:**
- *Soybeans:* Can be applied preplant surface, preplant incorporated, preemergence, or early postemergence.
- *Cotton:* Apply as a post-directed treatment using precision equipment to avoid contact with the cotton stem or foliage.

**Safety and Handling:**

- **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):** Handlers must wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves made of barrier laminate or Viton ≥ 14 mils, shoes plus socks, and protective eyewear (goggles, face shield, or safety glasses).

- **Restricted Entry Interval (REI):** Do not enter treated areas without protective equipment for 24 hours following application.

- **Environmental Considerations:** To minimize the risk of runoff and leaching, avoid applications to saturated soils or during heavy rainfall events.
